Bio
Marie-France Lalancette, artiste

Art has always been woven into the fabric of my life. My grandmother, a woman of endless creativity, spent her days crafting beauty from simplicity. Some of my dearest childhood memories are of summers in the countryside, creating side by side with her — lost in imagination, surrounded by nature.
Art became my anchor, my outlet, my healing path. It was so essential to me that I made a conscious choice not to turn it into a career — I didn’t want to lose the joy of creating freely. Instead, I’ve poured my creativity into projects, notably as the founder of Nutrition beyond Borders, and into my career as an author.
Now, as I near retirement, I find myself never tired of my moments of creation.
The Journey
My artistic journey began with figurative drawing, evolving into whimsical murals when I became a mother, painting my children’s rooms and walls with joyful imagery. I’ve always dreamed of large, open spaces — symbols of the freedom I seek in art and life.
A long period of chronic pain silenced that creative voice for a time, but it is that voice that saved me from it. I discovered Creative Journaling — a turning point. Each journal became a visual diary, chronicling my pain and, ultimately, my healing.
Through drawing, painting, and collage, I rediscovered both art and myself.
In 2018, fully recovered, I stepped beyond the page into ceramics, fulfilling a lifelong dream. A summer internship at Atelier G with Greta Céramiste sparked my love for clay. I especially enjoy creating small, unique cups for cacao ceremonies — for which no two are ever alike.
The Creative Philosophy
I live by the Carpe Diem philosophy. Creating is my way of being in the flow — fully present in each moment. Because every moment is unique, each piece I create carries its own soul. What you see in my art is the reflection of who I am in that instant.
After a motorcycle accident, I decided to embrace and reveal this artistic side of myself more openly. Yet, I was still searching for my medium — one that would surprise me each time, one that I could never tire of. In 2023, I discovered alcohol inks — fluid, unpredictable, and magical. A forgiving medium, endlessly surprising — much like life itself. From that day, I was hooked.
To let colors bloom on paper or canvas is, for me, to let color return to my life. Through my Soul Ink workshops, I invite others to experience that same liberation — to allow color, emotion, and spontaneity to flow freely, without judgment, and to reconnect with the playful heart of their inner child.
And because art is about feeling good everyday, I create wearables and I share my prints with joy!
